• Focus on anatomy and physiology in relationship to the wound healing process

• Predict patterns of the type of wounds basing on the characteristics, causes, and locations

Identify and explain the four most common types of chronic wounds

Overview/Description

The wound healing process is a complex combination of factors, requiring in-the-trenches expertise and experience to develop appropriate wound care strategies. Proper wound care after surgery or disease is a critical part of the recovery process. The right type of wound care at the right time helps facilitate the healing process, prevent infection, and stave off further complications.

Wound care 101 provides an orientation into advanced wound care in any healthcare setting. This lecture also includes an overview and practical predictive model of the different wound types and an explanation based on the characteristics, causes, and locations including important discussion of the anatomy and physiology of the wound healing process and recommendations for appropriate interventions for different wound conditions.

Attendees will…

• Develop a common language to use in the world of wound care.

• Gain knowledge and confidence when identifying wounds.

• Be able to use the knowledge gained to improve practices in their organization.
